Okay, so you know how you're in church on Sunday morning and somebody stands up and says "Please pray for Sally - she's having surgery Thursday and she's a bit nervous about it." and you think "Totally. I will totally pray for Sally." and then maybe you even go find Sally after the service and give her a hug and listen to her story and promise to pray for her?

And then you know how you go home and the dog needs to go out and there's laundry and dishes and driving kids places and what are we having for supper and suddenly there it is Thursday night and you think "Ack! Sally!"

So maybe you and your friends and your church decide to start e-mailing prayer requests to each other, and that's a little better, and sometimes you send up a prayer just as soon as you get the e-mail, but there are still so many of those times that you move on from e-mail to going to look at pictures of things your friends are knitting and again, Thursday comes and goes and you've forgotten?

Wouldn't it be just so awesome if someone would write a utility that would put a little window up on your computer desktop that had prayer requests in it, one at a time, and cycled through them all day? And this program (or Windows Gadget) would be something subscribable, so maybe even your whole church could create a prayer request list, and then potentially we would be all reminded of each other just when we needed it most? And then wouldn't it be GREAT if that were secure, so that only the people it mattered to could see it?

I have recently installed the 'reminder gadget' in hopes of remembering to pray for requests raised by our church. Not only have I been faithful to pray for those requests (as the reminder is sitting on my desktop) but have had many in our church come up to me and let me know that they have prayed for me many times during the week; whenever they went onto their computer and saw the prayer request on the reminder gadget (one person said they had prayed 10 times for me that week!) What an answer to prayer! I'm convinced the reminder gadget is making us faithful prayer warriors for each other. If you haven't done so already, please install the reminder gadget on your computer so you too can share in this prayer ministry.

About six months ago, God laid it on my heart to undertake a project for our church that can also be used by others. Interestingly, this coincided with the Daniel Henderson conference on prayer that happened here in April. For the last six months or so I’ve been working on a project that has made me think of churches’ prayer ministries and missionaries’ prayer networks frequently. Does your church have a prayer chain of some kind? Do you have people back home praying for you? Well, what I’ve developed is a little tool to keep your prayer requests (and other things, for that matter) more visible to your members or supporters. My intent with this tool is ministry, not profit.
